ZOOM H6

Inputs

The H6 offers four main inputs (1-4), plus two additional inputs (L, R) that are derived from whichever capsule (X/Y, MS, Shotgun, or Dual XLR/TRS Combo) is plugged into the unit. The supplied XYH-6 X/Y capsule also provides a secondary input for connecting an external mic- or line-level signal via a stereo ⅛” Mic/Line In mini phone jack. When a connection is made to that jack, signal from the X/Y microphones is muted.

All four main H6 inputs (inputs 1-4) are combo connectors that can accept either XLR or ¼” balanced or unbalanced phone cables. They can handle both mic- and line-level signals, which means that you can connect either external microphones or line-level devices like mixers, portable music players, electronic keyboards, or electric guitars or basses with active electronics (passive electric guitars or basses can also be connected with the use of a mixer or effects device). Internal switching contacts automatically detect the circuit of choice.

On the H6, all connectors use the industry standard Pin 2 hot on XLR connectors and Tip hot on TRS connectors.

Each of the six inputs (that is, 1-4 as well L, R) have a dedicated gain control knob as well as a -20dB pad, allowing you to prevent distortion even when high-level signals are introduced. In fact, with the use of the Pad switch, the H6 can input a signal 30dB louder and 14dB softer than any other Handy Recorder model. In addition, all capsules utilize higher voltage preamps (5 volts instead of the more commonly used 3 volts) for distortion free recording, even at high volumes. A built-in instrumentation amp allows signals to be transmitted with minimal noise even when long cables are used.

If you’re using high-quality condenser (powered) microphones with the H6, no problem—a simple menu option allows the unit to provide Phantom Power (either +12, +24, or +48 volts) to any or all of the main inputs (inputs 1-4). Inexpensive condenser microphones requiring Plug-In Power (2.5 volts) can be connected to the X/Y capsule’s stereo 1/8” Line In jack.

Outputs

The H6 Line Out is an unbalanced stereo 1/8” phone jack, located on the bottom of the H6, beneath the LCD display. It carries the analog stereo output signal, as determined by the H6’s internal mixer.

The H6 USB port, located on the side panel to the right of the LCD display, provides a digital output of either a stereo mix or the six individual input signals, depending upon the setting of the “Audio Interface” function in the USB menu.

In addition, the H6 provides a headphone output with a dedicated volume control, located on the side panel to the left of the LCD display. Connect your headphones to its stereo 1/8” mini phone jack for private monitoring of the stereo output signal.

The H6 even has a built-in speaker, located on the underside of the unit, for fast monophonic monitoring of the recorded signal without the need to make any connections whatsoever. This speaker is automatically disconnected when connection is made to either the Line Out or Headphone output.

RECORDING FEATURES

Never miss a take

Pre-Record

The interview started a split-second before you were ready. The conductor lifted his baton just as you were checking a cable. The talent went back on-air a moment too soon.

No problem… as long as you’re using the H6. Its Pre-Record function automatically keeps the H6 silently but continuously recording in the background, all the time. Then, when you hit the RECORD button, it keeps the previous two seconds and appends it to the beginning of the file. It’s as if the H6 had started recording two seconds before you actually got to hit the button.

Backup-Record

Backup-Record—the ultimate safety net. When turned on during the recording of WAV files, the H6 automatically records a duplicate set of L/R tracks, but with 12dB less input gain. Even if the original L/R track is distorted, chances are the Backup version is fine.

You can listen to either set of tracks simply by going to the Backup File option in the PROJECT menu. When turned OFF, you’ll hear the original L/R tracks; when turned ON, you’ll hear the lower-level Backup tracks instead. Pick the one you prefer and use it as your L/R master. Bacon saved.

Auto-Record

The Auto-Record function allows the H6 to automatically start recording when a certain level of sound is detected. When turned ON and the RECORD button is pressed, the H6 doesn’t immediately start recording; instead, it goes into a standby mode; as soon as an incoming signal exceeds the Start Level you’ve set, recording begins.

There’s an equivalent Auto-Record Stop function, too. When turned ON, as soon as incoming signal drops below the Stop Level you’ve set, recording ends.

BATTERY LIFE AND RECORDING TIMES

Time is on your side.

The H6 requires just 4 AA batteries—either alkaline or rechargeable NiMH—for power. Battery life (when using alkaline batteries) is more than 20 hours, even during continuous recording. An optional AD-17 AC adapter (included in the APH-6 Accessory Pack) allows you to power the H6 from any standard wall socket.

The H6 records directly to SD cards. It supports standard SD cards as well as the newer SDHC and SDXC cards, up to 128 gigabytes, making it capable of accessing massive data storage. A handy “SD Card Remain” function allows you to see at a glance how much space remains on the currently inserted card, both in gigabytes and percentage.

SUPPORTED FILE TYPES

To compress or not to compress.

The H6 can record audio in two different basic file types: WAV and MP3. The main difference between the two is that WAV files are uncompressed; that is, they contain all the recorded data without any “bits” (digital words) being removed. Thus, they provide full fidelity without compromise.

The H6 can record up to six monophonic WAV files (or up to three stereo files) in any of the following formats:

44.1kHz / 16-bit 44.1kHz / 24-bit 48kHz / 16-bit 48kHz / 24-bit 96kHz / 16-bit 96kHz / 24-bit

All WAV files recorded by the H6 are automatically time-stamped, making them fully compatible with the Broadcast Wave Format (BWF); in other words, they are “BWF-compliant.” This is especially important when recording audio for video, because it allows the audio to be precisely synchronized with the onscreen action in post-production.

MP3 recordings are compressed, which means that some unnecessary data is removed prior to storage, making them much smaller than WAV files, and thus much easier to upload and download. Some MP3 files exhibit a slight loss of audio fidelity as compared with the original signal; however, this is not noticeable in all circumstances.

Note that when the MP3 file type is selected, the H6 only records in stereo; if you want to record in multitrack, you must select a WAV file type. The H6’s internal mixdown function allows multitrack WAV projects to be easily reduced down to stereo MP3 (or WAV), with independent control over each track’s level, panning and pitch.

FAQs
  • Can I use multiple transmitters with a single RØDELink receiver?-
    • Not simultaneously. Each RØDELink System is designed to operate as a pair and you can only receive audio from one transmitter unit at any time. That said, each RØDELink receiver has up to eight memory locations where it can store paired transmitters so you can have one receiver unit that can connect to eight transmitters without having to re-pair the units. To switch between paired transmitters (in this example Ch1 and Ch2) on the same receiver, follow these steps:
      • Turn off transmitter using Ch1
      • Switch receiver to Ch2
      • Turn on transmitter using Ch2
      • Wait for the units to pair
  • Can I use any microphone with my RØDELink Filmmaker kit?-
    • Yes, the RØDELink Filmmaker kit transmitter accepts a 3.5mm TRS mic input, so you can connect any self-powered microphone with a 3.5mm output, such as a VideoMic into the RØDELink Filmmaker kit transmitter.
  • Can I connect the output of the RØDELink Filmmaker receiver (RX-CAM) to an XLR input?-
    • Yes you can, using a 3.5mm to XLR adaptor such as the RØDE VXLR.Please note that this will be an unbalanced signal.
  • Can I connect an XLR microphone to the RØDELink Filmmaker kit?
    • Yes you can connect an XLR microphone to the RØDELink Filmmaker kit, however the microphone must be self-powered as the TX-BELT transmitter unit does not provide phantom power. To connect your XLR microphone you will need an XLR-to-3.5mm cable such as this.
  • How do I pair my RØDELink transmitter and receiver?-
    • RØDELink kits are shipped pre-paired from the factory, however if you wish to re-pair for any reason just follow these steps:
      1. Turn on the Receiver and Transmitter units.
      2. Open the battery door of both units, allowing access to the pair (red) buttons.
      3. On the Receiver unit, press the pair button. The screen status should change to display a flashing channel number and a searching animation to indicate it is in pair mode.
      4. If you wish to select a specific channel number, press the ‘CH’ button to cycle through to the desired channel.
      5. Press the pair button on the Transmitter.
      6. Both units should now display a solid, matching channel number indicating that they are now paired.

If you wish to pair multiple RØDELink kits, simply switch off the first set and then pair the second set using the steps above on a different channel.

  • Is the lavalier microphone supplied with the Filmmaker Kit the same as RØDE’s Lavalier microphone?-
    • No. The lav mic included is a different microphone, and does not have a removable adaptor but rather a fixed 3.5mm connector with locking thread. While both are broadcast-grade in performance, the Lavaliersupports the MiCon adaptor system for a wide range of compatibility with popular audio devices.
  • What is the operating range of the RØDELink wireless system?-
    • The RØDELink system has an operating range up to 100m (~110 yards), however as with all wireless transmission devices this operating range can be influenced by external factors. The RØDELink system operates in the 2.4GHz frequency spectrum which is shared with common wireless transmission devices such as WiFi networks, Bluetooth devices, microwave ovens and more. The more 2.4GHz devices that are simultaneously running in the same location as your RØDELink system, the more congested this 2.4GHz frequency spectrum will be, cutting down the signal strength and overall operating range for all 2.4GHz devices. In a very busy 2.4GHz environment you may find your RØDELink system is unable to maintain its maximum operating range.Signal travelling distance is also another possible factor. This refers to the physical distance between the Receiver (RX) and Transmitter (TX). An unobstructed line of sight between the two devices will provide the shortest possible signal travelling distance, therefore the strongest signal. If the signal needs to travel through, or around walls and other objects, this lengthens your signal travelling distance, reducing overall signal strength. For more information on the 2.4GHz spectrum with your RØDELink system watch the video below.
  • Can I use multiple RØDELink kits at the same time?-
    • Yes, RØDELink systems have been tested for use with up to 8 kits operating in the same area under optimum conditions without problem.
It is important to note that the more kits you have operating simultaneously, the more likely you are to experience a decrease in their useable range. This is also relative to the environment you are operating in and depending on the amount of 2.4Ghz devices that are active at the time of use, your useable range may be less than the optimum distance. If a complex setup is required or you want to use multiple RØDELink systems, we strongly recommend testing your setup in the same active environment you intend to use it. This will allow you to assess the signal strength surrounding you and any range restrictions you’ll need to be aware of during operation. When using multiple RØDELink kits you will also want to space the receivers apart for optimal performance. This only needs to be a minimum of 10-15cm and typically will only affect usage in congested RF environments as well as when larger transmitting distances are required. Always make sure that your receivers (Rx) are orientated so that the antennas are forward facing (when using the Rx-CAM this will occur naturally if the kits are mounted via the provided cold shoe mount and the display is facing the camera operator).
  • How does ‘Signal to Noise Ratio’ affect my RØDELink’s range?-
    • Take for example a small room with no people in it, you are trying to hold a conversation with someone across the room, you’ll probably need to be standing within 4-5 meters of that person for them to be able to hear you speaking at a normal level. Now, consider being in the same room but instead filled with 20 people talking at once, you’ll need to be much closer than a meter for that same person you were trying to hold a conversation with to hear you speaking at normal level, reducing the distance between you.Think of yourself as the transmitter, your friend the receiver, your speaking voice the signal and all the other people speaking around you to be the ‘noise’. The greater the ‘noise’ level (other signals in the 2.4Ghz spectrum), the closer the ‘transmitter’ and ‘receiver’ will need to be to successfully communicate with each other.Of course, there is technology that can help with the background noise. Each RØDELink system transmits on two frequencies simultaneously and its series II 2.4Ghz technology is constantly searching for and hopping between the strongest frequencies to transmit on, ensuring the best possible communication between transmitter and receiver. However, understanding that the 2.4Ghz ‘noise’ will affect the range which the RØDELink systems can transmit will help ensure you allow for the best setup within your requirements.
  • How do I optimize my RØDELink’s range and performance?-
    • Understanding both the environment you are operating in as well as exactly what the oppositional factors mean and how they might affect performance is key to optimising your RØDELink setup.
      1. The biggest impact on performance will of course be interference from other devices in the area you intend to use your RØDELink system. Wi-Fi access points are the most common interferer in the 2.4Ghz spectrum, so a simple way of identifying how many access points are available in an area is to take a quick look at how many you can see on your smartphone. The more access points, the higher the interference potential.
      2. If you have identified that you are operating in a congested 2.4Ghz environment, you’ll then want to consider how these interferers will impact the RØDELink’s performance.  As a general rule, 3 access points, being heavily used in the same area will cause the 2.4GHz frequency band to be used up and you will see a large reduction in range performance of the RØDELink system.  However, distance between the interferers and the RØDELink system can help this. For optimum RØDELink performance you should aim to keep the distance between your transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx) to less than the distance between any interfering device and the transmitter or receiver.
      3. Wherever possible, you will want to keep your Transmitter (Tx) and Receiver (Rx) in direct line of sight. This means that there are no objects at all between the two. Understandably the transmitter (Tx) may at times need to be hidden depending on the scenario you are using it in, however the RØDELink’s range can be further optimised by ensuring there is nothing impeding the signal transmission.
      4. The orientation of the antenna in your RØDELink kit during operation will also help optimise the systems performance. The Rx-CAM will be oriented correctly if mounted via the cold shoe mount which it ships with as standard. If the shoe is not being used you should aim to have the bottom of the receiver (opposite side to the screen) pointing towards the transmitter.

Rode Wireless Go II + Rode Lavalier Go
Rode Wireless Go II + Rode Lavalier Go Image

Expanding on the original Wireless GO with updates allowing for two-person shoots, onboard recording, a greatly extended range, and flexible output options, the black Rode Wireless Go II system lets videographers, vloggers, and mobile journalists confidently and quickly incorporate wireless audio into their setup regardless of their experience level or what device theyre recording to.

Boasting secure Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission, easy operability, and built-in mics (lavalier mics available separately), the system is ready to go at the press of a button; you can focus on getting the shot knowing that the Wireless GO II is delivering quality audio at a range of up to 656 feet. There are no menus and no finicky dials, just simple power-on-and-go functionality and a bright, informative LCD screen showing you what you need to see. When youre ready for more, use Rodes companion app to access a powerful feature set and extended customization of settings.

Version II Upgrades

Whereas the original Wireless GO employed a single channel, version II is a dual-channel system, capable of handling two transmitters at the same time for simple, two-person shoots with low latency (3.5 to 4 ms).
Use the Rode Central companion app (Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android compatible) to unlock powerful features and device customization—onboard transmitter recording, configurable safety track recording in dual mono mode, file playback and export, and more.
Via the app, each transmitter provides an onboard audio recorder offering up to seven hours of uncompressed recording (24-bit / 48 kHz WAV) or 24 hours of compressed recording, perfect for worry-free backup recording or a fast and easy way to capture sound from your subjects. Export files in various formats such as MP3 or WAV (16-, 24-, or 32-bit float) with date and time stamp information as well as automatic markers anywhere the transmitter-receiver link was broken.
Since the Wireless GO II can handle two transmitters at once, it features the ability to switch between stereo or dual-mono output modes. This enables each transmitter, and therefore each subject, to be recorded to a separate channel. Alternatively, signal from both transmitters can be mixed together and recorded identically to left and right channels. Use the app to activate safety track recording (-20 dB on the right channel).
In addition to the traditional 3.5mm TRS analog output, the Wireless GO II receiver has a USB Type-C digital audio output for operation as a 24-bit / 48 kHz audio interface. This can be connected to a computer with the supplied USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable, to the Lightning port of an iOS mobile device via the Rode SC15 cable, or to the USB Type-C port of a laptop, iPad Pro, or Android mobile device with the Rode SC16 cable (SC15 and SC16 cables available separately).
The new Series IV technology extends the line-of-sight operating range of the Wireless GO II to approximately 656foot compared to the 230foot maximum range of the original Wireless GO. It also offers increased signal strength in crowded wireless environments. Plus, the system is designed to run both transmitters without affecting the range performance.

Powerful Customization

Always Recording Mode: When this mode is activated, the transmitter will start recording audio as soon as it is switched on. It will continue recording until it is switched off, regardless of the status of the receiver. This means that you will have a continuous recording from the moment the transmitter is switched on, making this mode suitable for using the Wireless GO II as a standalone field recorder. Note that in this mode, the  mute function will not affect the onboard recording (although it will still mute the wireless transmission). This will be the default recording mode when the Wireless GO II is on the latest firmware.
Backup Recording Mode: When this mode is activated, the transmitter will start recording audio when it connects to the receiver. When the receiver is switched off, the recording will stop. This means that if the signal drops out at any time or if you forget to hit record on your device, you will still have a backup recording for the period that the wireless connection was active.
Off: Switching off the recording function means the transmitter will not record any audio. Existing recordings will remain on the unit until manually deleted using Rode Central.
Activatable input pads on the transmitters engage low-sensitivity mode to avoid distortion when dealing with loud talkers.
LED brightness adjustment for the transmitters allows optimal visibility in any shooting environment.
Change the functionality of the transmitter power button to either mute the input, drop a marker into the onboard recording, or deactivate the button.

Out of the Box, onto the Set

Designed with stunning simplicity and efficiency in mind, the Rode Wireless GO II offers instantaneous functionality out of the box for your next news shoot, video project, or interview. Power up, let the receiver and transmitters automatically pair, then GO!
Mobile journalists, videographers, and vloggers will appreciate the Wireless GO IIs pocket- and bag-friendly portability. With the transmitters and receiver each weighing just over an ounce and measuring approximately 1.7 x 1.8 x 0.7 inches, the subjects and camera operator will forget theyre even there!
Clip each miniature transmitter to clothing, attach it to a belt, or slide it in a pocket; use it as a lavalier mic (no need for a separate mic), or operate it as a traditional bodypack transmitter with an external lav mic such as the Rode Lavalier GO (available separately).
Thanks to the receivers minute form factor and integrated clip, it provides the flexibility to be easily mounted on a camera, in a sound bag, or to a mobile device. Its bright, high-contrast display shows battery status for the receiver and transmitter, audio level, signal strength, and more.

True Wireless Microphone Ready for Run-and-Gun

Equipped with a high-caliber, pre-polarized, omnidirectional lavalier built into the transmitters compact housing, the Wireless GO II delivers quality audio without demanding a separate microphone (external lavalier mics optional).
The internal capsules omnidirectional polar pattern ensures reliable audio pickup, even if mic placement is less than ideal; your subjects voice will be captured with clarity, intelligibility, and consistency.

Grab a Mic and Go

Already have a top-of-the-line external lav? The transmitter packs in a 3.5mm TRS input with plug-in power, so you can connect most lavalier microphones equipped with a non-locking 3.5mm TRS mini plug (such as Rodes own Lavalier GO, available separately), and still enjoy the convenience of the Wireless GO II.
The 3.5mm TRS external mic input passes wideband audio along to the internal mic preamp, which provides requires no manipulation of settings or parameters.

Sonically Solid and Secure

Like Rodes popular RODELink wireless systems, the Wireless GO II system utilizes the 2.4 GHz frequency band to get you away from the congested and confusing domain of UHF. Forget about scanning for channels and dialing in squelch to get a strong signal; the Wireless GO II just works!
Courtesy of Rodes optimized transmission algorithm, the Wireless GO II empowers you with a line-of-sight range of up to 656 feet, and bolsters signal dependability to mitigate drop-outs in crowded short-range environments such as retail stores, malls, office buildings, and hotels.
Rodes new Series IV 2.4 GHz digital transmission incorporates 128-bit encryption for security, stability, and hassle-free operation while bypassing the frustration of dealing with licenses and frequency mandates. Go anywhere in the world with the Wireless GO II; it automatically gives you a strong signal no matter the scenario.
Note: For optimal performance from this 2.4 GHz system, users are encouraged to maintain as direct a line of sight as possible between the transmitter and receiver. The Wireless GO II is not backward-compatible with the original Wireless GO system.

Works with Rode Connect

The Wireless GO II can be fully integrated with Rode Connect software, allowing you to capture broadcast-grade sound for your content with more freedom and flexibility than ever before, perfect for IRL streaming, recording presentations or classes, and more.
Using the Wireless GO II with Rode Connect is also ideal for podcasting applications where you require the freedom of wireless audio, from recording interviews to casual podcasting setups.
Rode Connect allows two Wireless GO IIs to be connected to a single computer. Each transmitter can be allocated to its own channel in the software for a total of four separate wireless audio streams, each with an individual level meter as well as solo and mute buttons. The Wireless GO II can also be used in conjunction with the NT-USB Mini within Rode Connect.

Additional Features

The receivers 3.5mm TRS output sends a mic-level signal, making it compatible with an array of devices such as DSLRs and portable audio recorders.

Rode NTG-3B Shotgun Microphone Kit
Rode NTG-3B Shotgun Microphone Kit Image

Kit Includes:

  • Rode NTG-3B
  • Standard Mount
  • Blimp
  • Dead Cat Windsock
  • 10m XLR Cable
  • Rode Boom Pole

Capture broadcast-quality sound indoors or outside for your next indie film, TV shoot, or documentary project with the black Rode NTG3B moisture-resistant shotgun microphone. Professional-level features such as low-noise circuitry, upgraded immunity to radio-frequency interference, and minimal handling noise reduce the need to repair and restore audio in postproduction.

The NTG3Bs high sensitivity allows it to produce strong output levels without having to apply extreme gain at your mic preamp. Sonically, the NTG3B delivers consistently clear sound due in part to its gentle rise in high frequencies and its rumble-reducing attenuation of low bass frequencies. Its switch- and dial-free design lets you set up quickly and focus on the sound instead of fiddling with various mic settings. The solid brass housing is both durable and lightweight, and its anti-glare finish prevents reflections in the shot.

Designed to Withstand Adverse Environmental Conditions

When your work takes you outdoors, youre bound to encounter humidity and condensation, which can cause many mics to fail. The NTG3Bs RF bias technology makes it almost completely resistant to moisture, allowing you to reliably capture high-quality audio in normal and adverse environmental conditions. It also includes a weatherproof aluminium storage cylinder for maximum protection during travel.

Broadcast-Quality Sound

The NTG3B was engineered for broadcast-quality sound, enhanced immunity to RF (radio frequency) interference, and low handling noise. Plus, its balanced output allows longer cable runs than most camera-mount shotgun microphones.

The combination of the NTG3Bs 10inch long body and super cardioid polar pattern yields focused on-axis directionality with maximum rejection behind the mic. Its low self-noise of 13 dBA and highly sensitive condenser element communicate detailed audio unburdened by the hiss that plagues many low-cost microphones.

Phantom Powered

Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 44 to 52 VDC phantom power, the NTG3B is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.

Ideal for Boompole Mounting

The NTG3B includes a mic clip for easy placement on a mic stand or boompole. Alternatively, mount the NTG3B in the Rode SMR-4 shock mount (available separately) to impede the transfer of vibrations between your boompole and the mic.

Windscreen Minimises Wind Noise

The NTG3B has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of handling noise and wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Rode Blimp furry windshield and shock mount suspension system (available separately).

NOTE: This microphone requires a recorder capable of sending 48v Phantom Power in order to operate.

The RØDE NTG1 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, designed for professional applications within the film, video, television and production industries.

Its full frequency response, low noise and audio transparency make it an ideal film, video, and voice over microphone, while its low weight (105gm/3.7oz) makes it an ideal boom microphone.

In addition to the native 20Hz-20kHz frequency response a selectable high-pass filter at 80Hz is available, which will prevent low end noise such as air conditioners and traffic from being recorded.

The WSVM windshield is supplied to minimise light wind noise and plosives during recording. The optional ‘DeadCat’ furry is recommended for outdoor applications.

Rode Videomic Pro on-camera Microphone
Rode Videomic Pro on-camera Microphone Image

The RØDE VideoMic Pro is a true shotgun microphone designed for use with camcorders, DSLR cameras and portable audio recorders as a source of primary and reference audio.

At the heart of the VideoMic Pro is an all-new 1/2″ condenser capsule that provides broadcast-quality audio via a 3.5mm minijack connector (outputting the mono signal to both left and right channels) with an incredibly low self-noise of just 14db. A super-cardioid polar pattern ensures that surrounding audio is minimised, and your recording is focused on the subject in front of the camera.

The integrated Rycote® Lyre® based shock mounting system separates the VideoMic Pro capsule and electronics from its mount, providing isolation from external physical factors that may cause unwanted rumble and vibrations in the microphone. Constructed from a single piece of hard-wearing thermoplastic, the Lyre® provides superior acoustic suspension to traditional elastic solutions, and will never wear out, sag or snap.

Easily accessible on the rear face of the microphone are the power, filter and level controls. In addition to the microphone’s native 40Hz-20kHz response a selectable high-pass filter at 80Hz is available, which will prevent low end noise such as air conditioners and traffic from being recorded.

Below these controls are the level settings, which attenuate or boost the recorded level as required. The -10dB level attenuation (or PAD) is ideal for recording loud sound sources, such as live music, motorsport, or interviews where the subject is very close to the camera. The +20dB level boost is designed for use with DSLR cameras, allowing the user to reduce the camera’s preamp level (or mic-input level), effectively reducing the amount of noise generated by the camera’s comparatively low quality audio circuitry.

The microphone uses a standard sized shoe mount for on camera use, and features a 3/8″ thread in the base of the mount for easy boom pole mounting.

The VideoMic pro is battery powered, and provides over 70 hours recording from a single 9V battery.

The RØDE VideoMic is designed and made in Australia, and covered by RØDE Microphones’ industry leading 10 year warranty.
