Head and Eye Detection

Select People as the EOS R5 Cs subjects to detect, and like the EOS R5, it can focus on a detected persons eyes, face, head (if a face is obscured), or even entire body if a head cannot be detected.

Animal Detection

For still images, the same revolutionary Animal Detection AF as the EOS R5 can identify and focus upon eyes, faces, or bodies of birds, cats, and dogs, and can do so over virtually the entire image area with many Canon lenses. This opens up game-changing possibilities for wildlife images, even with subjects as challenging as birds in flight.

Vehicle Detection

Carried over from the high-performance Canon EOS R3 camera, the EOS R5 C adds Vehicle Detection AF as a subject detection option, during still-image shooting. Cars and motorcycles, especially in racing applications, can be identified and tracked, even at high speeds. User-selectable Spot Detection lets the R5 Cs AF detect the helmets of an exposed rider or driver, and put focus upon them, instead of the leading edge of the vehicle.

AF Area Flexibility

Select the size of the active AF area from a precise single AF point to the entire available AF area and rapidly move a user-selected area via the 8-way multi-controller on the back of the camera. The EOS R5 C has the same range of choices for still-image AF method selection as the EOS R5 camera.

AF Area Coverage of Approx. 100% x 100% for Still Images

The EOS R5 C camera features an expansive focus area of approximately 100% horizontal and 100% vertical when working with select RF and EF lenses, during still-image shooting. With older EF lenses, or with EF Extender types I and II, the EOS R5 C focuses on approx. 80% horizontally and 80% vertically of the image. This means fast and impressive focusing even when composing your subject far from the center of the frame.

EV -6 Low-Light Autofocus

Great for night photography or in very low-light settings, the EOS R5 C cameras brilliant AF can operate for still images in light as dim as a light rating of EV -6 where other AF systems may fail or search. Still-image AF is possible with lens + Canon RF tele extender combinations having maximum effective apertures as slow as f/22 – meaning AF is still possible with the RF 800mm f/11 IS STM + RF 2x Extender.

All 61 phase-detection points support metering at effective apertures of f/8 or larger, which benefits the use of teleconverters and telephoto lenses. Additionally, a separate, dedicated DIGIC 6 processor is used for the AF and metering systems in order to maintain quick performance while recording 4K video or shooting at fast continuous speeds. As a whole, the AF system has gained approximately 8.6% in coverage in the center, and 24% in the periphery, for enhanced subject tracking across the image frame, and an AI Servo AF III+ algorithm is used to intelligently and precisely acquire focus in single-point, Large Zone AF, or any other focusing mode. When working with live view during stills shooting or video recording, a Dual Pixel CMOS AF system is employed that provides incredibly quick and accurate focusing performance in a similar manner to how a camcorder acquires focus. This system integrates two separate photodiodes within each pixel to provide a broad and dense network of phase-detection gathering elements across a majority of the image sensor to reduce focus hunting for faster, more direct control of focus placement. When working with still imagery, this focusing system works to acquire focus quickly and accurately, making it ideally suited to shooting and tracking moving subjects so that critical focus is attained with each shot. When shooting video, a Movie Servo AF mode offers smooth and natural focusing when changing from different subjects or different distances within the scene, as well as the ability to specify tracking sensitivity, AF speed, and Face Tracking priority. Benefited by the Touch AF system, rack focus is possible simply by touching elements within the scene on the touchscreen in order to change focus in an intuitive manner. Subject tracking in movies is also heightened due to the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system’s ability to recognize subjects and maintain focus when working within changing or cluttered scenery.
DCI 4K Video Recording
Designed for both professional stills shooting and video recording, the 1D X Mark II supports DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) resolution recording at up to 60 fps at 800 Mbps, along with Full HD 1080p shooting at 120 fps at 360 Mbps for slow motion playback. A new photodiode structure and increased photoelectric conversion rate also helps to improve the overall sensitivity of the sensor, resulting in a reduction in image noise and improved high ISO performance.

DIGIC 5+ Image Processor

Processing speed and power are increased to promote significantly greater overall performance and response from all aspects of the camera. New algorithms are incorporated in order to promote better noise reduction for higher ISOs and chromatic aberration compensation. The increase in processing speed also helps to improve the continuous shooting rate, bringing it to 6 full-resolution frames-per-second.

14-bit A/D Conversion

The 14-bit signal processing helps to improve the quality and gradation of images by producing more natural, smooth-looking results. An increased ISO range is also provided, from 100 to 25600 in standard modes and 50 to 102400 in expanded modes. The ISO range can be controlled and customized depending on the user\\\\’s preferences, and additionally an auto ISO mode can be employed. This extended sensitivity range helps to counter frequently changing and difficult lighting situations and significantly minimizes noise when photographing with even the top-rated sensitivity.

61-Point High Density Reticular AF

The newly designed 61-point autofocus interface helps to ensure critical focus no matter how complex or difficult the situation is. Featuring up to 41 cross-type AF points (with f/4 lens support) and 5 dual diagonal AF points (with f/2.8 sensitivity); this AF system is highly accurate and extremely low-light sensitive.

The dedicated AF menu tab permits quick and easy access, eliminating the need to navigate through settings menus in order to modify your AF settings. Autofocus point selection is broken up into 6 different methods-Spot, Single Point, Single + 4 Adjacent Points, Single + 8 Adjacent Points, Zone Selection, and Automatic AF Point Selection-as well as a dedicated AF configuration tool for control of AI Servo AF III tracking parameters.

iFCL 63-Zone Dual Layer Metering Sensor

An intelligent metering system works in conjunction with the autofocus system and independently analyzes \\\\’Focus, Color, and Luminance\\\\’ within the scene for the most precise exposure settings possible. The 63 zones cover the entire image area with great detail and the dual-layer design permits a wider sensitivity to different wavelengths of light.

The dual layers are split into a red/green channel and a blue/green channel; which counters the red light sensitivity bias electronic sensors inherently have. A series of algorithms are employed to combine data received from both layers, with the resulting exposure reading being extremely accurate regardless of the shooting conditions.

EOS HD Video

Full HD video recording is supported in multiple formats, including 1080/30p, 24p, 25p; 720/60p, 50p; 480/30p, 25p. While recording video, a 4GB automatic file partition is employed in order to gain longer continuous recording times, up to 29 minutes 59 seconds. Both All i-frame and IPB compressions are supported as well as the standard H.264/MPEG -4 AVC codec. Embedding the time code is also possible for greater convenience when recording with multiple cameras.

Video performance is further enhanced with the ability to manually adjust your exposure settings and audio levels while recording. By employing Live View, you can view your recording on the LCD and make settings changes with a dedicated menu tab on the fly. The DIGIC 5+ processor also dramatically improves video response times and helps to reduce color artifacts, aberrations, and moiré.

Rugged and Efficient Design

Constructed from magnesium-alloy, the 5D Mark III features a toughened housing that provides enhanced dust and weather resistance. Its ergonomic design also produces an intuitively navigable interface with an emphasis on lessening hand strain and increasing functionality. Handling is simplified and natural with this body due to the incorporation of customizable controls: You can make shooting settings with just your right hand, and fast image check and image processing operations with just your left. The redesigned grip offers easy holding when shooting or carrying the camera, while the rubber skin coating has been engineered for all day comfort in your hand and also coats the camera\\\\’s card slot cover. Additionally, there\\\\’s an internal headphone terminal and dual card slots supporting both CF and SD / SDHC / SDXC memory cards. Three recording modes are ideal for a variety of workflows: Auto switch media instructs the camera to swap cards as soon as one card is filled, a great feature for long shoots. The camera can also record separately to each card. For extra security, you can set the Mark III to generate an automatic backup by recording the same file to both cards at the same time.

The 5D Mark III also boasts a dual-axis electronic level indicator displaying vertical and horizontal tilt on the LCD monitor–either alone or during Live View shooting. The indicator may also be displayed in the intelligent viewfinder, if you prefer.

A newly designed shutter is equally as durable and has been tested up to 150,000 cycles. The lightweight, carbon fiber blades also provide support for the increased 6fps burst rate.

The body construction also features extensive gasketing for maximum dust and weather protection, even at connection points around the lens, hot shoe, and memory card slots. Further dust protection and removal is aided by an updated EOS Integrated Cleaning system that uses a vibration-based dust removal process.

Intelligent Viewfinder

The optical viewfinder provides a 100% field of view with 0.71x magnification and a wide viewing angle of 34.1%deg;. A refined design integrates aspherical lens elements into the construction and lessens distortions and color aberrations while providing greater clarity for composing imagery. In addition to a clear view, a superimposed, transparent LCD is also incorporated. This Intelligent Viewfinder mode can be toggled on or off quickly at the touch of a button, allowing you to remove all camera information for unobstructed viewing. The information provided when it is on includes a customizable display of focus points and grid lines, which can also be directed to appear outside of the image area.

Canon\\\\’s Dual Axis Electronic Level can also be used in conjunction with the Intelligent Viewfinder and visually displays pitch and roll angles, aiding in properly level horizons. When used in the viewfinder, this feature can display +/- 6° of roll and +/- 4° of pitch in 1° increments when held horizontally (the inverse is shown when held vertically). The electronic level is particularly useful for landscape photographers and those working with tilt and shift lenses whose angle of view is especially critical.

3.2 inch Clear View II LCD Monitor

The expanded 3.2 inch Clear View II LCD provides high quality viewing with a 1,040,000-dot resolution and anti-reflection coating. This allows for sharp and clear viewing in even the brightest of conditions and displays images and videos with great detail and richness. The display also features a viewing angle up to 170° for review from the side or below.

The Dual Axis Electronic Level is also functional in on the LCD and can display a full 360° of roll and +/- 10° of pitch in 1° increments. When used in conjunction with Live View mode, a smaller display is placed over the image. Live View mode permits real-time image review and can also place grid lines over the image for compositional help. You can also zoom into and navigate within the image when in Live View and use the grid lines for minute control and precision over the alignment of your photograph.

Multiple Exposure and High Dynamic Range

Multiple exposures are possible in-camera and can be recorded onto a single file using 4 distinct settings for control. When in Additive mode, this closely resembles making multiple exposures on film and layers each exposure; manual exposure compensation is required. Average mode layers the images and automatically compensates for the final exposure, eliminating the unintended possibility of gross under or overexposure. Bright mode is specifically designed for photographing in uniformly dark scenes with a bright subject, such as a studio environment. Dark mode functions inversely, and helps to eliminate overly bright sections of the image including reflections and highlights.

A High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode is also incorporated and allows for the creation of HDR images in-camera, reducing the time needed to manually overlay images in post-production. When using this mode, a series of 3 bracketed exposures are made of the same image, then automatically integrated into the same frame, resulting in a photograph without blown highlights or blocked up shadows and a long middle range of tones. This mode is especially useful when photographing scenes with a great deal of contrast.

Wireless and GPS Compatible

The 5D Mark III is compatible with the WFT-E7A Wireless File Transmitter as well as the GP-E2 GPS Receiver (both not included). The WFT-E7A, which supports 802.11 a/b/g/n and sports a built-in Gigabit Ethernet connection, provides LAN and Bluetooth image transfers and features an FTP mode with automatic image resend function to ensure file delivery even if the signal momentarily drops. The transmitter also has EOS utility mode and WFT server mode, and is capable of performing time sync multiple cameras on the same network. The GP-E2, which connects via USB or Hot Shoe, automatically embeds location data into the images\\\\’ metadata, including latitude, longitude, elevation, and the camera\\\\’s orientation in relation to a compass reading when shooting. It also has a GPS time sync function, particularly useful when a project is shot among different time zones. Both of these accessories do not compromise the 5D Mark III\\\\’s dust and weather resistance and are designed to the same rugged specifications.

Note:

Requires a firmware upgrade to be compatible with the GPS GP-E2, which will be available soon.

Silent Shutter Mode

In both single shot drive and continuous shot drive, a Silent Shutter mode can be employed to significantly reduce the sound the camera makes when shooting.

Electronic Level

By pressing the INFO button an electronic level can be engaged and will appear on the LCD monitor to indicate the horizontal and vertical tilt of your camera. This is a very helpful feature for all photographic applications, but particularly landscape and architecture photography.

Optional Battery Grip

The optional dedicated Battery Grip BG-E11 (not included) features buttons and a multi-controller. It delivers seamless performance regardless of whether the camera is in vertical or horizontal orientation. The grip takes 2 LP-E6 batteries or an included AA battery magazine, and is useful in counter-balancing large lenses during handheld shooting.

Panasonic DMC-GH5 Mirrorless (Body Only) Image
Panasonic GH5
  • 20.3MP Digital Live MOS Sensor
  • Venus Engine Image Processor
  • 4K Video with No Crop
  • Internal 4:2:2 10-Bit 4K Video at 24/30p
  • 5-Axis Sensor Stabilization; Dual I.S. 2
  • 0.76x 3.68m-Dot OLED Viewfinder
  • 3.2in 1.62m-Dot Free-Angle Touchscreen
  • Advanced DFD AF System; 6K & 4K PHOTO
  • ISO 25600 and 12 fps Continuous Shooting
  • Dual UHS-II SD Slots; Wi-Fi & Bluetooth

Upgraded, redesigned, and filled with features, the Lumix DC-GH5 Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds Digital Camera from Panasonic provides an outstanding imaging platform for shooters who demand some of the best video and still photography quality they can get in a single compact camera. At the heart of the camera is a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor and a newly developed Venus Engine processor, which both offer dramatically improved processing times over its predecessor. This enables the ability to record 4K video at up to 60 fps, 10-bit 4:2:2 internal recording with select settings, Full HD video at up to 180 fps, 12 fps continuous shooting, and sensitivities up to ISO 25600. Also, the camera features built-in 5-axis sensor stabilization, which can work with certain lenses to activate Dual I.S. 2 for highly effective shake correction that can compensate for up to 5 stops of shutter speed. Other improvements include a speedier and more accurate Advanced DFD autofocus system that can lock on in just 0.05 seconds, as well as 6K PHOTO at 30 fps and 4K PHOTO at up to 60 fps.

Along with all these internal improvements, the body received some significant upgrades as well. For viewing and composing images both the 0.76x OLED viewfinder and 3.2in free-angle touchscreen received resolution bumps to 3.68m dots and 1.62 m dots, respectively. This will make shooting more comfortable and more accurate. The magnesium alloy body is now freezeproof to 14°F in addition to splash and dustproof. For fast image transfer and saving, there are now two UHS-II SD card slots. Additionally, for a completely wireless setup it offers both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for advanced functionality when paired with a mobile app.

20.3MP Digital Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine

Packing in a newly developed 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor without an optical low-pass filter and a new Venus Engine processor, the GH5 claims to produce the best image quality to date from a Lumix camera. Using Multipixel Luminance Generation and Intelligent Detail Processing, it will maximize sharpness and details as well as accuracy in a variety of lighting conditions. It offers excellent three-dimension color control and precise noise reduction techniques to help with shooting at sensitivities up to ISO 25600. It also enables shooting speeds of up to 12 fps with AF-S or manual focus modes.

4K Video Recording

The GH5 is an exceptionally capable video camera in addition to its outstanding stills capabilities. The flagship feature is UHD 4K video at up to 60 fps, though another excellent spec is the ability to record 4:2:2 10-bit files at resolutions up to DCI and UHD 4K at 24/30 fps. A full-size HDMI port is present on the camera for high-quality output at 4:2:2 10-bit in all settings for use with external monitors and recorders. The camera also offers high bit-rate recording for highly detailed images free of compression artifacts.

For more advanced users, multiple picture styles are available to provide a more gradable image, such as CINELIKE V and CINELIKE D, as well as an in-camera LUT to make monitoring easier. Also, users will have access to overcranking and undercranking settings which provide speeds up to 2.5x slower in 4K (60 fps) and 7.5x slower in Full HD (180 fps). Also, a 4K Anamorphic mode is available, which will let you record in a proper 4:3 ratio for adjustment in post-production.

The GH5 is designed to be an expandable system, with multiple options available to help improve video recording capabilities. Examples of this are an optional V-Log L upgrade and separately available accessories such as the XLR Microphone Adapter that provides XLR inputs and physical controls through a hot shoe connection. Users can also use standard microphones and headphones via the 3.5mm input and output jacks.

6K and 4K PHOTO

Utilizing the GH5s video recording capabilities, a trio of still shooting modes are available for recording continuous 8MP stills at a 60 or 30 fps shooting rate or 18MP stills at a 30 fps shooting rate:

  • Burst: This mode will allow you to continuously record, making it ideal for instances where you need a fast frame rate in order to capture the best moment.
  • Pre-Burst: This mode is ideal for times when youre unsure of the critical moment to press the shutter button and will record images one second prior to and one second after pressing the shutter button in order to give you 60 frames to choose from.
  • Burst (S/S): This mode most closely follows the video recording process, and allows you to playback your video, pause at the chosen moment, and use the shutter button to mark a chosen frame from the video and save it as a single 8 or 18 MP frame.

Dual I.S. 2

Helping to achieve the utmost sharpness when photographing handheld, Dual I.S. 2 combines the GH5s sensor-shift image stabilization technology with lens-based image stabilization to compensate for a broader range of movement types to render sharper, clearer imagery. Dual I.S. 2 requires the use of compatible Lumix lenses featuring O.I.S. This stabilization system is able to compensate for approximately 5 stops of camera shake.

Body Design and Built-In Wi-Fi

  • A large OLED Live View Finder has an impressive 3.86m-dot resolution and 0.76x magnification for eye-level composition.
  • A larger means for image composition and playback, the 3.2in 1.62m-dot rear RGBW LCD monitor has a free angle, tilt and swivel design to support viewing from a variety of angles. It is also a touchscreen, which permits intuitive menu navigation and settings control.
  • Dual UHS-II SD card slots are present which provides settings such as Relay Recording to automatically switch cards when one is full; Backup Recording, which recording the same data to both cards simultaneously; and Allocation Recording, which lets you save certain files to each card for easier organization.
  • Constructed from magnesium alloy with die-cast front and rear frames, the GH5 features a durable design that also incorporates extensive sealing at each joint, dial, and button to render it both splash- and dust-proof as well as freezeproof to 14°F.
  • A joystick is available on the rear of the camera to make changing many settings easier and more intuitive, such as changing a focus point.
  • The sleek flat-body profile incorporates both front and rear dials for intuitive control over aperture and shutter speed settings. Multiple assignable function buttons are also available, as well as a dedicated exposure compensation dial.
  • Built-in 5 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy allows for wireless image sharing and remote camera control from linked smartphones and tablets. Bluetooth LE also enables a constant connection to your mobile device, allowing for functions such as geolocation and automatic image transfer.

225-Area Advanced Depth-From-Defocus AF System

For accelerated autofocus performance, and Advanced DFD (Depth-From-Defocus) technology is employed to quickly calculate the distance to subjects and adjust the focusing position in as little as 0.05 seconds, which enables continuous shooting up to 9 fps with continuous AF. This contrast-detection type focus method benefits both still and video recording modes, as well as subject tracking applications where subject color, size, and motion vectors are used to intelligently lock-onto the moving subjects and ensure precise focus. The sensitivity and speed can be adjusted to further improve performance with certain subjects. It also features 225 AF areas which provide excellent control over where the camera will focus. Additionally, supporting working in low-light conditions, a Starlight AF feature enables accurate AF performance down to -4 EV.

Benefitting manual focus operation, focus peaking is available that highlights bright edges of contrast with a colored outline for quickly recognizing your focus point, as well as Touch MF Assist for touch-to-focus operation.

Other Camera Features

  • A mechanical focal plane shutter enables a fast maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 sec., as well as a top flash sync speed of 1/250 sec. An electronic shutter function also avails a top shutter speed of 1/16,000 sec. to better enable working in bright conditions and with wider aperture settings.
  • Raw image files can be processed in-camera for a more streamlined post-production workflow.
  • Depending on the lens in use, the included DMW-BLF19 battery provides approximately 400 shots per charge when using the rear monitor, or 380 with the electronic viewfinder.

The front display, which in the previous HERO model showed status information, is now larger at 1.4 inch and offers a live view, allowing you to frame shots for vlogging and similar uses. A new HyperSmooth 3.0 digital image stabilization with in-camera horizon leveling lets you produce even smoother, more stable videos without a gimbal. While a full-on action camera, the HERO9 Black makes use of its immense feature set to also let you use it as a webcam and for 1080p Full HD live streaming, providing a comprehensive solution for all your action cam adventures and more in a robust design thats 33 foot waterproof without an external housing required. An optional dive housing can additionally be used to take the camera into much deeper waters.

Another new addition is a suite of Power Tools features, including a feature called HindSight that, when turned on, allows you to record 30 seconds of video prior to your hitting the record button, ensuring youll never miss that important unexpected moment at a ball game or other event.

While all these features already combine to offer a powerhouse system, the HERO9 Black is further complete with many other features carried over from previous versions of the camera, some of which have also been enhanced. These include a large 2.3 inch rear touchscreen with touch zoom, raw photo and audio capture, time-lapse and night-lapse, 8x slo-mo, an advanced 100 Mb/s bit rate, three microphones with advanced wind noise reduction, Protune features with professional video and audio settings, 14 voice commands such as, GoPro, take a photo, and much more.

The HERO9 Black has a built-in, flip-out 2-prong mount on the bottom, letting you easily attach it to over 45 mounting accessories available from GoPro for all your applications, whether extreme sports or live streaming to Facebook. Moreover, to further expand the functions of the camera, multiple optional add-on mods are offered, such as the Media Mod, which adds an external mic and additional mounting and signal output options for more of a multimedia workflow. With social media in mind, the camera also lets you switch into portrait mode to capture images in the format ideal for platforms such as Instagram. The battery for the HERO9 Black has a 30% longer, 1720mAh capacity in comparison to the previous models battery, allowing you to operate the camera for longer periods on a single charge.

5K Video

Capture up to 5K30 resolution video and maintain high detail even when zooming in. Packing a new 23.6MP sensor, the HERO9 Black brings lifelike image sharpness, fluid motion, and in-camera horizon leveling for optimal image quality.

20MP Photo with SuperPhoto

Shoot crisp, pro-quality photos with 20MP clarity. Apply SuperPhoto to automatically pick all the best image processing to easily get the right shot.

Expandable Mods System

The HERO9 Black is compatible with multiple add-on mods that expand the camera for a more comprehensive workflow. The optional mods include the Max Lens Mod, Light Mod, and Media Mod. Between these mods, you can achieve horizon locked footage, LED illumination, external mic recording, and more.

Built-In Mounting

No more carrying a separate frame. Just flip out the folding fingers and attach your camera to virtually any mounting accessory.

Front Display + Rear Touchscreen

The rear touchscreen of the HERO9 Black is larger than in the previous model of the camera but offers the same familiar features, including touch zoom. The front display has also been upgraded and now shows a live preview in addition to status indicators. You can now frame your shot right from the front display.

Powerful Battery

The HERO9 Blacks 1720mAh battery has a 30% longer battery life than the battery of the HERO8 Black.

HyperSmooth 3.0

The GoPro HERO9 Black features a more advanced video stabilization with HyperSmooth 3.0, which enables in-camera horizon leveling and boost in all settings.

Horizon Leveling

In-camera horizon leveling (up to 45% tilt) is now possible with the new Linear + Horizon Leveling digital lens, helping your footage stay stable and straight.

TimeWarp 3.0

Record time-lapse scenes as you move on the road, on foot, or anywhere else. TimeWarp 3.0 condenses time, capturing moments with features like Speed Ramp, which lets you select Real Speed (now with audio) or Half Speed while recording.

Intuitive Touchscreen

The rear touchscreen makes it easier to control your camera, frame up your shot, play back footage, snap a selfie, and more.

Live Streaming in 1080p

Live stream in 1080p HD to social media via the GoPro app with HyperSmooth stabilization applied, and feel free to save your streamed footage to a microSD card to check out later. (The GoPro app is compatible with iOS and Android; microSD cards are sold separately.)

Webcam Mode

Connect the HERO9 Black to your computer to broadcast in 1080p HD. Use optional GoPro mounts to create your ideal webcam setup.

Rugged + Waterproof

The HERO9 Black is designed rugged for virtually all weather conditions and is waterproof down to 33 right out of the box, without any waterproof housing required.

Power Tools

The HERO9 Black features the Power Tools suite of smart capture settings that extend capture options with tools like HindSight, LiveBurst, Scheduled Capture, and Duration Capture.

Power Tools HindSight

HindSight captures video from 30 seconds before you press record, so youll never miss a moment again, like that unexpected first base hit. With HindSight turned on, the camera will capture 30 seconds of video before you hit the shutter button, and everything after, until you stop recording.

Power Tools LiveBurst

Record what happens 1.5 seconds before and after your shot, then pick your favorite single frame for the best pic or a shareable video.

Power Tools Scheduled Capture

This feature lets you schedule the start time for your shot in advance.

Power Tools Duration Capture

Choose how long the HERO9 Black records before automatically stopping.

Night-Lapse Video

Shoot time-lapse videos at night in 4K, 2.7K 4:3, 1440p, or 1080p, all processed in-camera.

Presets + Custom Presets

The HERO9 Black comes preloaded with recommended video presets for Standard, Activity, Cinematic, and Slo-Mo shots. You can even create custom presets for quick access to your favorite settings.

Digital Lenses

Epic shots are as easy as tapping a digital lens. Now you can switch between Narrow, Linear, Wide, SuperView, and Linear + Horizon Leveling.

Voice Control

Go hands-free with 14 voice commands like GoPro, take a photo. Even if the camera is off, you can say, GoPro, turn on. The HERO9 Black understands English (US, UK, AU, and India), Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (BR), Russian, Spanish (EU and NA), and Swedish.

Portrait Orientation

Capture photos and videos in portrait orientation for your Snapchat and Instagram.

Timer

Get yourself in the group shot or group video. Timer makes it easy to grab a GoPro selfie or get your whole gang in the frame.

Raw Photo

Raw mode provides the most flexibility in editing and is available for single- and multi-shot sequences as well as time-lapse and burst photos.

8x Slo-Mo

Ultra high frame rate 1080p240 video with HyperSmooth 3.0 stabilization allows up to 8x slow motion for this ever-popular effect.

USB Type-C Offload to Android Devices

Transfer pics and videos fast via an included USB Type-C cable, compatible with Android devices.

100 Mb/s Bit Rate

Create studio-quality footage with bit rate options of up to 100 Mb/s.

(Note: You must enable GPS on your camera to add GPS Data Overlays to videos in the GoPro app.)

Face, Smile, Blink + Scene Detection

The HERO9 Black recognizes smiles, blinks, and more. The GoPro app uses those details to intelligently pick your best photos and videos to create impressive video stories.

GoPro App

The app lets you control your camera remotely, start and stop recording, and offload media. Plus, you can make single- and multi-clip edits and share them, all from your phone.
